I got this info through by email today and had to pass it on to the whole BeingDiabetic community!!

It’s World Diabetes Day on Sunday 14 November, and the Diabetes Hands Foundation have set up an awesome initiative at bigbluetest.org where they encourage all people with diabetes to test their BG at 2pm on the 14th November, record it, do 14mins of activity and record it again. The even more compelling part of their campaign is the video below: Roche has underwritten the production of the video and will make a donation to Insulin For Life for every view the video receives (up to $75,000). Insulin for Life is my…

Last year in November I did a post about Natasha and her little 18 month old boy James, who needed an insulin pump to make managing his T1 easier on him and his parents. The great news is that the extended community has come to James’ aid and he now has an insulin pump, which is making his life and his parents’ so much more manageable.

According to the article on stuff.co.nz:

Pharmaceutical company Roche contacted Natasha after the story ran offering them the pump for a discounted price of $6000.

The Onehunga Centre Pharmacy also donated $1000 towards the purchase of the pump, after Variety Club previously granted…

I’m going over to my Mum and Dad’s neighbours’ house today to give them a bit of a demo of my pump and a bit of background on pumping. They have a 12 year old son who’s had T1 for about a year now and are keen to investigate and possibly get him on a pump in the next few months.

This lead me to think about what I would tell them, so I sat down and compiled a list of things which are important to me in a pump, now that I’ve been pumping for almost a year. I thought this could be useful for some of you, plus I’d be interested in any discussion. See the below and…
