Yes, I promised I wouldn’t go on about American Idol again unless our T1 representative Crystal Bowersox won: well, readers… I’m breaking the promise.

It was the final last night on TV 2 so don’t worry, you won’t hear me mention it again. But I had to make mention of the fact that it really was a T1 dominated final, even though our heroine came second (to a really lovely chap, congrats Lee).

I was into a bit of glam rock back in the 80s, when I was a kid. I remember “Unskinny Bop” from Poison, and remember rocking out to it in the car, going somewhere with Mum. Can’t say I’ve been following the reality show “Rock of Love” which stars the guy to the right, Bret Michaels though. For those of you not in the know, Michaels is both lead singer from the aforementioned band Poison, and a fellow T1 (he’s had it since he was a kid, apparently).

Have any of you been following American Idol this year? I have to confess to it: it’s my guilty pleasure. (I have to note that it seems a fair few of my friends who also have young children have resorted to watching this show as well now that we’re not going out as much anymore. However, I can’t just blame my baby. I’ve watched these singing shows for years).

Well, everyone else is jumping on this topic so I thought I’d dive on in too.

Whatever your political leanings, I’m sure most of you would agree that Senator Obama becoming President Obama today was a truly colossal event. I was interested to see that in comparison with his speeches on election night, there was a lot more focus on the fact that he is the first African-American president and how this will embolden black children across the nation etc.
