I went to my final appointment at National Women’s today (they see you sometime after six weeks has gone by since the birth of your baby) and I thought it was about time I wrapped up my journey through this pregnancy on the blog as well. The appointment itself was pretty uneventful: the midwife just went through all my latest blood test results with me, and the physician just had a quick look at my latest blood sugars and discussed my plans going forward. Paternal offspring: 6-9%
Maternal offspring: 1-4%
Siblings: 5-6%
HLA-identical siblings: 16%
Identical twins (if one twin has T1): 33-50%

Thus, my baby has a 1-4% chance of getting

Well, I set out to document my entire pregnancy, so here I go in finishing it off…

In my final update before giving birth to my son, Hugo (first bath pic, left), I was typing as I was about to head out the door to be admitted to hospital. The general story goes something like this:

I went in for 36 week scan two Mondays ago (the 12th) and my blood tests indicated my platelets had dropped to concerning levels (they were already keeping a close eye on them after they’d been dropping the week before) plus blood pressure and swelling up, insulin needs down, all in their own way highlighting…
