Hi everyone

I got this email from a T1 reader last week (names have been blanked to protect the innocent).

#%^&*’s Mum is a nightmare with filling my two year old son up with massive amounts of sugar e.g. yesterday she gave him 2 lollipops, 2 choc biscuits, jelly, mashmallows, choc milk and pancakes with syrup in the space of 2 hours! This is despite many times asking her not to.
New strategy: phoned her and said he was at an increased risk of getting T1 diabetes and huge amounts of sugar was putting pressure on his pancreas (I realise this is a stretch). Seemed to work.

This last week has been a mixture of diabetes good and diabetes hell with a whole heap of random highs and lows plaguing me at various points day and night inciting more than one moment of cursing diabetes to hell I have to admit even though I’m not really one to sit around feeling sorry for myself (which I hope comes across!).

Moaning aside though, I’ve put the spikes and troughs down to the change in seasons again, me fighting a tickly throat for the last two days and a little bit of stress chucked in with too little sleep and the odd bottle of beer as I’ve transitioned out of my current job into a new one which is…

HAPPY HALLOWEEN!

Today is Halloween in Canada and man do they get into it!

Every shop you look at is full of displays with pumpkins and ghouls and decorations, supermarkets are selling autumn wares, huge pumpkins, tiny pumpkins and gourds are filling the shelves and streets outside shops. Party invites are being sent out left right and centre and people are all a flutter talking non stop about what their costumes are going to be. At times I honestly feel like I’m back at high school listening to the girls talking about their ball dresses!

Seriously though, it seems to me that after Christmas, this holiday is the biggest in Canada and people absolutely love getting into it in…
