I’ve had an exhausting week. I’ve had loads of work to do, including an eight hour day on Wednesday which saw me driving 140km between 9am and 5:45 to attend just two business meetings (the lion’s share of the driving was to and from my Mum’s house before, after and in between – she was kindly looking after my son). I had two night time commitments this week which meant doing extra miles again to drop my son off at his Dad’s work so he could feed and take him home. And, said son has started teething which has meant stressful days and sleepless nights.

I thought I was holding it together quite well, until today, when it all began…

The publishers of Rachel Besser’s “Diabetes Through the Looking Glass” book accidentally sent me another copy. I emailed them to let them know and they’ve given me permission to give this additional copy away. Yeah!

So, again I used my random number generator to draw from those who entered the original competition, and this time the winner was Simone. Congratulations Simone, I’ll be contacting you separately to get your address, and the book will be with you next week.

Anyone else who’s interested in the book, you can get it here:

Class UK – GBP 17.99

Amazon – US $28.73

One of our lovely BeingDiabetic community members has signed herself up for the Oxfam Trailwalker challenge in April.

She’s asked me to throw these two questions to you lot:

1. Have any of you with T1 also signed up for the challenge? If so, would you mind if she contacted you?

2. Does anyone have any hot tips for doing the walk and managing T1 at the same time? Damian, Heidi-Jane, I’m looking at you!!

Cheers

Nic

Great to see so much enthusiasm yesterday in relation to Kathy’s post about her 35 years with T1, including 25 of them pumping.

We’ve had three stories from readers over the years:

Pumping for 25 years – Kathy Scott

Type 1 from a different perspective – Chris

Gestational diabetes – Hilary’s story

Do you have an interesting story to tell about your journey with Type 1 (or your experiences with a child with T1)? I’d love to publish it, and as you can see, the community loves to hear these stories too. Send them to me at nic@beingdiabetic.co.nz.
