Hi everyone!
It’s been a while since I did a post what will all the great content that Nic has been working hard to get you you, the faithful, over the last couple of weeks. Honestly, I often marvel at how Nic manages to juggle it all!
I was talking to a website developer the other day about good resources and communities on the web for the development community and he mentioned this guy called Scott Hanselman who also happens to be a T1 and often talks about diabetes related issues as well as running a type of online fund-raising movement. In and of itself, that is nice but not earth shattering (I’m sure he’s a good guy) but what I wanted to tell you about in this post is a down right freaky piece of technology he talked about on his blog a while about which has just come to my attention.
If you look at the image to the right, you may be forgiven for thinking that the lady is playing with a tattoo or that it is an altered image of a phone keypad.
You would be wrong though!
What you are looking at is a implant that has be put under her skin which is running an LCD type display that can be interacted with (they are picturing a phone here). How is it powered you ask?
Blood glucose!!!!!
Now, it may not have an application and most likely never will and in truth, only has a vague link to diabetes, but how cool is it (not that I’m volunteering to become an android!). Links to the articles about it are here and here so if you’re interested go knock yourselves out – it makes for interesting reading.
Have a good Thursday peeps

Wow, that is crazy cool!! I’ve read about tattoos which change colour based on your BG, but tattoos which act as an interface? Daaaaamn! Haven’t got time to read the links just yet but looking forward to it!

As long as the blood flows batteries are not needed; however, it would still come under invasive technology, hmm?
