Last month I mentioned Ruth Hill, who is putting together an application to the Ministry of Health for funding for insulin pumps and their consumables.

She needs as many letters as possible to submit with her application, so please write yours and send it to her at {address now removed to avoid spam}. She already has more than 121 letters, but the more she has, the more compelling her application will be.

I’ve mentioned this before, and if you’ve sent a letter already or even decided against sending one for whatever reason, please skip over the rest of this post.

However, if you believe in this lobbying, and have just not had time to write a letter, you still have time to do so, and I encourage you to get it done this week. She needs the letters by 15 March, at the very latest.

It doesn’t need to be long. I’ve put a short template together for you here to copy and paste into a word document.

Dear Hon Tony Ryall

Please give serious thought to our application for funding for insulin pumps and their consumables.

<Your story about how a pump has made your diabetes management easier/life better/health benefits; or alternatively if you’re on injections and want to go on a pump how a pump would be likely to improve things for you>

I respectfully ask that you re-assess the government’s stance on funding (or partial funding) of insulin pumps and insulin pump consumables.

Yours sincerely
