PS I'm actually thinking that to avoid that T1 tyre and to reduce the amount of jellybeans etc I have to eat when I hypo, I'm going to put my pump on a very low temp basal rate when I can predict I'll go low to avoid the bad foods! Plus, if I don't count my carbs right and see on my pump that I still have a good dose of insulin on board and my BG is already normal an hour or so later (meaning I'll hypo eventually), I'll do it then too so I don't have to eat extra to avoid hypo. I'll give it a go for the next week and let you all know how it goes. :)

Funny Nic. :) Many a time I have done something like that. Or said something I shouldn't have to someone when I was so low and had a severe case of no concentration and slap on the face. That's the absolute worst! haha

HOWEVER, you might all be interested to know (and this also relates with Aaron's recent blog about the T1 tyre) ... I woke up this morning with bad hypo symptoms ... assumed I was about 3.something and because I'd had a late night and could not be bothered getting out of bed to go and scoff sugar and breakfast (plus I never have the energy to move when I'm low) ... and full well knowing I could still have another good hour or so in bed before bubs woke up ... I put my pump on a temporary basal rate of 0.0 units for an hour - yes no insulin at all - and got up 1.5 hours later. I was greatly delighted that I could go back off to sleep and woke with a BG of 9.7 and didn't have to eat jellybeans and a museli bar etc and more importantly, not have to get out of bed! Nor did I get to about 11mmol which is what I do after I hypo because I always eat too much! (Bad Ruthie.)

So there you go. If you like to sleep in and want to avoid eating sugary food etc to recover from hypos, try this!!! :)

And I don't know about you, but I always feel bloated after I have hypos. And just really full. Didn't get that feeling today, in fact I eventually woke up with more energy than usual!

Awesome, it's good that we can laugh at this stuff. I remember the day Kelsey was cooking eggs except there were no eggs and my pan was REALLY close to catching on fire.....good thing I was home.
