This blog post may seem a little crazy but I’m going to put it down to the 18.9mmol/L that I’m currently experiencing coupled with the day from hell (diabetes wise), 5 doses of either the flu or a cold in a row over the winter and some serious sleep depravation!

Either way I NEED TO VENT so I’m doing it here in the hope that it will help me feel better and someone might say she’ll be right! Plus I can’t bemoan the situation to my partner cos I’ve been doing that for about 30 minutes with the it’s not fair, the sky is falling routines that I have about 5 times a year when for whatever reason I’ve had…

Well, I’m rounding up the home stretch now! 34 weeks and now on maternity leave – four weeks (approx) til delivery date.

I went to the hospital yesterday and was waiting to write this post until after that as thought I’d have all sorts of updates for you after that, but sadly I don’t! If I’m completely honest I was a bit despondent after yesterday’s visit. I really shouldn’t have been so ungrateful because the diabetes treatment I’ve had during and leading up to my pregnancy has been absolutely FIRST CLASS. I really don’t think I could have found better treatment anywhere in the world.

However – yesterday I was a little tired, and I guess with about four weeks…

I’ve had a couple of quite big hypos in the night over the last week (a 2.2 and a 2.6). I noticed both times when I woke up and stumbled to get glucose that my tongue was feeling numb. Anyone else experienced this?

Thanks to Karen for pointing me towards this absolute OMG/WTF?? news piece…. http://tvnz.co.nz/world-news/indonesia-s-giant-baby-3021138. Summary: baby born in Indonesia weighing in at 8.7kg. OH MY GOODNESS.

And yes, the ‘culprit’ is a mother with diabetes. What on earth must her HbA1c have been to grow a monster like that do you think? Holy mother of god, that poor lady must have been in ketoacidosis for most of the pregnancy.

I’m happy to report that my baby is currently on track to be less than 9 POUNDS, which is still heavy enough for me to want to keep up the tight regime.

I have to say I’m a little worried about this story making the headlines…. just…
