In a previous post, I mentioned a painful incident involving one rushing diabetic (me), a door handle and an insulin pump cord. After that I vowed to tape a loop to my stomach from there on in to prevent my site being ripped out, causing pain and further expense – especially now that I have a young one with kicking legs and curious hands (it’s only going to get worse).
Lovely Jane - who is a regular reader of this blog – sent me a package in the post containing a Unomedical Tubeguard. I just got a chance to try it out today for the first time, and it seems great. Basically you loop part of the tubing around the tubeguard, and as you can see from the pic, clip it on (like a paperclip) to your clothing – meaning you have less tubing sticking out, and also forming a front-line should you catch the cord on something. The clip is nice and flat as well.
Looks like you can buy them for a tenner from Insulin Pumps NZ.

Excellent, I am always getting my pump cord caught in one thing or another – will give this product a shot. Cheers.
