I know I really shouldn’t (I would like to get rid of this baby weight sooner rather than later), but last night we had the Christmas tree lights on, my husband put on a Christmas record, and I was busy wrapping pressies – a complete Christmas scene apart from mulled wine, really. I’ve had a pack of scorched almonds in the cupboard for a few weeks, thinking they might make a good addition to someone’s present – and it seemed only right to open them up and have a couple last night.
Problem is, now the packet is open, and I’ve just had about eight of them for breakfast – naughty! Have just had to correct a 12.6. Oh well, tis the season, innit. Hail the mighty scorched almond!

I’m so relieved to hear this! I got two buckets of the delicious little Cookie Time cookies to take down to Temuka with me for Christmas this year – bad decision. One of them is already completely gone and the other won’t make it. I’ve resorted top using it as a Haloumi container in the fridge. Oh god, what have I done!

I think the scorched almond phenomenon is a classic Kiwi event. We too had a “spare” box that ended up mostly in my tummy. Ooops. They’re just too darn tempting
I take some solace that it wasn’t rocky road or candy canes

I’m currently being tortured by the pack sitting on my colleague’s desk…just waiting for her to look away for a second…slowly so as not to draw attention to myself…my hand goes out…the plastic crackles…she looks back but I’m too fast…SWEET VICTORY!!!!!
