Accu-chek mobile testerI seem to be on a Roche-wave at the moment and it’s not through any bias, I promise…. I just picked this one up off a Twitter feed.

I can’t really find any info about what markets this has been released in as of yet but the fact I can find sites in Russian and German does seem to suggest it’s either out there or nearly out there already. The pic on the left is a bit pathetic/squashed but if you look at the item at the right/lower corner, that is actually a “continuous tape” which you insert into the meter, allowing you to do 50 tests before changing it over. The idea is that if you have your Multiclix lancet (with six needles in it) and the 50-test continuous tape, that’s all you need to carry with you for up to 50 tests, negatingAccu-chek mobile tester the need to fuss about with inserting test strips (saving time, and also making it easier on a hypo I reckon), plus it means you don’t have the ‘flash flags‘ dilemma in terms of carrying around pockets full of used strips.

Very practical indeed and worth keeping an eye out for, but I have to say it’s not nearly as good looking as the new Nano, and in some of the pics I’ve seen of it (see image on right) it looks like a bit of a whopper…. think I’d rather keep carrying test strips. For those interested in reading more, here’s a fact sheet.
