…well that’s what it will be if I keep up the hullabaloo of this week so far. After hitting a cool 19.9 yesterday from a pump/cannula failure, this morning I got up to 18.0.

I went to bed at midnight, with a steady 5.3. Got up to go to the gym at 5:20am – yaaaay it had gone up to 13.5 without any explanation! I was up and not keen to flag the gym so downed 3 units of insulin and headed to RPM starting at 6am. By 6:20am (about three tracks into the class) I’d gone up to 15.1. Whoever it was who typed this (above) into a search engine and found this blog, welcome. I may not have been chosen for the pig cell trials at Middlemore Hospital, but you can bet your ass I’m still keeping up with what’s going on. Got a newsletter from LCT the other day and this is what they have reported from their Russian trials:

A total of six patients have been implanted with DIABECELL® to date in our ongoing Russian clinical trial; five patients received the lowest dose of 5,000 islet equivalents (IEQ/kg), and one patient was dosed with 10,000 IEQ/kg. I’ve had a big week. Have been working on a launch since late August, and working my booty off. Some days it’s been like mortal combat on the work front. Some days I’ve spent 75% of my day inside meeting rooms, only to come out to about 55 emails which need actioning, meaning I don’t get home til really late at night, absolutely exhausted, only to have to do it all over again the next day. Some days I’ve had all of this, and several big hypos to boot, just to make things extra tricky.

However – my big launch happened on Thursday. Hurrah!! We cracked open the first bottle of bubbly at 2pm. Then, conveniently it was my work…
