It was bound to happen at some point, and hopefully by making this mistake once I won’t make it again.

This morning I changed my pump site, but was having trouble getting the cannula to stick to my body – after two attempts I finally got the third one to stick. Was running quite late for work by this point so hurried through the change of tubing etc.

Got to work, had breakfast at 8:15, dialled up the dose, got stuck into my work.

9:30 came and time to check my BG. No – that can’t be right – 19.5. Check again. Oh noooooo, it really is 19.5. Something must be wrong!

All of a sudden it dawned on me……

Finally back to the gym today – feels like I’ve been gone a long time!

I’ve always had extra diabetes issues in association with exercise so was anticipating this morning’s RPM class to throw me completely – looks like I might have got away with it this time somehow though – not that I’m complaining!

I’d gone high in the night for the first time really since I went on the pump – my alarm went off at 4am and I did a blood test, returning a 13.0. I took 2u then and got up again at 5.20am to get to the gym in time for a 6am class. At 5.20 I was still 11.8 so took another .75units and…

Those of you who’ve been coming a while will notice that my rudimentary ‘picture taken out the window’ header for the blog has been replaced by a lovely illustration from my good friend Nadia – brilliant!

A big big thanks going straight out to you my dear – you are truly talented and I’m very privileged to have your illustrations on the site.

If any of you fancy checking out more of this lady’s amazing portfolio, you should go here: http://peepshowsandpuppets.blogspot.com/.

I wish I had talent like that. You rock, Nadia. Thanks.

I had a very special wedding to go to on the weekend – my sister in law’s and her fiance’s. I love a good wedding, especially now that I’ve had mine and realise the work that goes in – feels all the more decadent to sit back and enjoy it without all the effort of organising it yourself.

Of course this also was the first time I’ve wanted to wear a dress with the pump. I tend not to wear dresses at work as an overhang from the injections days where I’d have to head to the loo every time I wanted to shoot up (apparently it’s not professional to hoist your dress up in full view of everyone in order…
