Merry Christmas one and all! Sorry this message is coming to you from the 27th December but the early part of the holiday season overwhelmed me: finishing up work, celebrating being on holiday, finishing up the last of the Christmas shopping, catching up with friends before they went away; preparing food for the big day, etc etc etc.
I hope Santa was good to you, and you had fun no matter where you were, what you did or who you were with. My brother was in Jordan (in the Middle East) so I’m pegging his was probably slightly different to the rest of us!
I was very spoilt this year on a diabetes-thoughtfulness front. My sister and brother-in-law gave us a hamper full of goodies, and they’d gone to the effort to source diabetic jam and low sugar chocolate plus dressings. And my aunt went and got some sugar free chocolate as well – right on! And – thanks for asking – the diet on that note is not going so brilliantly!
I have managed to balance out the season’s over-indulgences quite well with some exercise though. I absolutely love being on holiday at my own house so I can get out to the beach or in the bush and go for some beautiful, scenic, steep, hilly walks with my iPod on full volume. Happiness!
I spoke to Aaron yesterday (Boxing Day) and he said he managed not to overindulge, and kept the blood sugars steady all day on Christmas Day. He’s now packed up a big kit bag of all pump and diabetes paraphernalia and headed off camping.
I hope you all had a great day yourselves, and didn’t let the condition get in your way of having a good time. Merry Christmas.
