Hi all – well it’s World Diabetes Day today, a day which I’ve never acknowledged or even given any thought to. Today I celebrated being diabetic by getting up at 5:20am to do a spin class, checking my blood sugar midway through, realising it had hit 16.9 for some unknown reason (I was wondering why I was struggling a bit: no energy going to the muscles!), leaving the class halfway through to shoot up, and hoping it would come down. No such luck yet – I’ve now got to 18.1 almost two hours later and taken another 5u. Hmmmm. Think it’s going to be a while before I can eat any breakfast.
Anyway – check out the awesome pic above, which is of a Roman temple in Portugal. It’s all lit up blue in celebration of World Diabetes Day. See more of these tribute pics at a gallery here: http://www.flickr.com/groups/wdd. It’s a great gallery actually, might have to upload a pic myself later on today!
